On December 27, 2024, the Iqaluit RCMP received a complaint of a Break and Enter that took place at the Hunters and Trappers Association (HTA). Approximately $3100.00 worth of country food, which included: pitsi (dried fish), muskox, fish and seal meat, was stolen.
Through the course of the RCMP investigation, police were notified that the suspects attempted to sell the stolen food outside of Arctic Ventures on December 27, 2024. They were described as using a child’s sled and had the food covered under a blanket.
Recently acquired CCTV footage shows three individuals breaking into the HTA’s storage unit, were the stolen country food was taken from.
The investigation is ongoing. If you recognize the individuals, or believe you may have purchased food from them, please contact Cpl. Rodney Macintyre of the Iqaluit RCMP at 867-975-0123.
