Baker Lake RCMP investigating fire that destroyed local Hamlet Garage

On Sunday, March 9, 2025 at approximately 5:25 a.m, the Baker Lake RCMP noticed the local hamlet garage was on fire.
RCMP members notified the local volunteer fire department who arrived on scene and began efforts to extinguish the fire. Later that morning, the entire garage was destroyed. There were no reports of injury or missing persons.
The cause of the fire is unknown and will be investigated by the Nunavut Fire Marshal’s office with the assistance of the Baker Lake RCMP.
The Baker Lake RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information related to the incident to contact them at 867-793-0123.
