Cambridge Bay RCMP charge four men in relation to assault incident

On July 8, 2025, at 4:03 a.m, the Cambridge Bay RCMP responded to a report that two men had been assaulted and were being treated at the local Health Centre.

Preliminary investigation indicated that two male suspects, known to the victims, assaulted them with a weapon in a residence on Tuktu street. Both victims sustained serious injuries and were flown south for further treatment.  

On July 10, 2025, the Cambridge Bay RCMP with the assistance from Iqaluit Detachment’s General Investigative Section, arrested four suspects in relation to the incident on July 8, 2025.

Police have charged, Hadi Alhashesh of Chilliwack BC (age 19), Ly Gabriel Galido of Edmonton, Alberta (age 22), and Ayaan Kamran Warsi of Edmonton, Alberta (age 18) with:

  • Two counts of Aggravated Assault, Section 268 C.C
  • Possession of a Firearm without a Licence, Section 91(1) C.C
  • Two counts of Forcible Confinement, Section 297(2) C.C
  • Two counts of Pointing a Firearm, Section 87 C.C
  • Trafficking a Controlled Substance, Section 5 CDSA
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Section 354 C.C
  • Robbery with a Firearm, Section 344 C.C

Police have also charged, Joshua MacPherson of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut (age 19) with:

  • Two counts of Assault, Section 266 C.C

Alhashesh, Galido and Warsi were remanded into custody, and their next court appearance is scheduled for July 29, 2025, in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

MacPherson was released from custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for September 8, 2025, in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.
