30-year-old man charged with Aggravated Assault in Kimmirut

On November 20, 2025, at approximately 9:24 p.m, the Kimmirut RCMP responded to a report that a male was threatening people with a knife in a residence in the 90’s block in Kimmirut, Nunavut. Shortly after receiving the initial report, police were notified that a male had arrived at the local health center with stab wounds.

Responding officer were flagged down by a bystander who told police what happened and identify a male suspect. Police were able to locate the suspect and place him under arrest.

The Kimmirut RCMP have charged, Saimo Michael (age 30) with:

  • Aggravated Assault, Section 268(1) C.C
  • Two counts of Assault a Peace Officer, Section 270(1)(a) C.C

Michael was remanded into custody, and his next court appearance is scheduled for December 1, 2025, in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

The male victim suffered multiple lacerations and was medivac to Iqaluit, Nunavut. He was reported to be in stable condition.
