Update: Fort Providence RCMP respond to shooting

Police in Fort Providence continue to investigate a fatal shooting in the community.

At this time, the “G” Division Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate this matter with support from both “K” Division and “G” Division Forensic Identification Services as well as "G” Division Police Dog Services. Additional general duty resources have been deployed to Fort Providence from neighboring communities.

Both surviving victims remain in hospital at this time. One of the victims has been reported to be in serious condition while the other is stable.

This incident has been determined to be linked to the illicit drug trade in Fort Providence. It is believed that the suspect in this case has fled the community and may have left the territory.
