Yellowknife RCMP lay charges after armed robbery

One man is in custody after Yellowknife officers responded to a report of an armed robbery on Friday night.

On April 18th at approximately 8:24 p.m. Yellowknife detachment received a report that a male suspect had attempted to rob a business on Old Airport Road with a knife and fled the scene approximately 25 minutes prior to the call.

Police responded, including members of the Police Dog Services Unit and Forensic Identification Unit. While conducting the investigation, officers realized that the robbery suspect was a person that they had just released from custody after executing an unrelated outstanding arrest warrant.

The suspect, 27-year-old Kallas Drybones, was quickly located again and arrested without incident. He is charged with:

• Robbery, contrary to section 344 of the Criminal Code
• Uttering threats, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Misuse of credit card, contrary to section 342(1) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Mischief under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

Drybone appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.
