PEI RCMP Traffic Services issues 74 charges and 34 warnings over 48-hour period

Through Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13, PEI RCMP Traffic Services issued a combined 108 charges and warnings under the Provincial Highway Traffic Act. Some of the charges included the following:
• Speeding;
• Operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection;
• Operating a motor vehicle while suspended;
• Passing when unsafe to do so.
PEI RCMP Traffic Services is made up of officers who have specific training and experience enforcing Criminal Code and provincial regulations relating to traffic enforcement. Officers cover the Island enhancing public safety on Island roads, and also are able to assist motorists and others, as needed to keep traffic flowing.
On February 12, 2025, PEI RCMP Traffic Services arrested a 27-year-old man for impaired operation of a motor vehicle while performing traffic enforcement in the area of Mount Stewart. Then on February 13, RCMP responded to a single vehicle crash on the Bunbury Rd. A 38-year-old man was also arrested for impaired operation providing breath samples well over double the legal limit.
PEI RCMP Traffic Services also completed a joint enforcement initiative with PEI Conservation Officers in Prince County, where operators of snowmobiles and passenger vehicles were checked for compliance relating to impaired driving and vehicle documentation.
