In March of 2023 Kings District RCMP began an investigation into a report of sexual offences against a minor that took place in the late 1980s. After a lengthy investigation RCMP laid charges against 79-year-old Brendon Earl Gallant. He has appeared in court to answer to one count of sexual interference, and one count of invitation to sexual touching. His next court appearance will be June 5, 2025 in Georgetown Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m.
"Any time there is a crime of this nature there is always the concern that there are other victims. At this stage we have no information showing other incidents. A sexual assault complaint can be made at any time, and there is no statute of limitations as to how far back the assault happened. If you are a victim of sexual misconduct, please contact us. You will be listened to, and you will be believed." Said Cpl. Gavin Moore, PEI RCMP Media Relations Officer.
If you have been a victim of a sexual assault, please contact the PEI RCMP at 902-566-7112. If you have information that may assist this investigation and would like to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
