A single vehicle crash in Hampshire has claimed the life of a 19-year-old man from Cumberland, PEI.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Friday July 25, 2025, a crash detection call to 9-1-1 from a cell phone alerted Queens District RCMP to a single vehicle incident in Hampshire. Island EMS and North River Fire Department also attended. There were two passengers in the vehicle, a 16-year-old man who was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with minor injuries and a 19-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Route 225 was closed for several hours with Provincial Highways and emergency services personnel redirecting traffic. The Provincial Coroner attended and an RCMP collision analyst was also present to gather evidence to assist in the investigation which is still underway.

Our thoughts are with the individuals and families of those involved in this incident.
