East Prince RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in Wellington Centre yesterday afternoon that claimed the life of a 43-year-old Summerside woman.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday July 16, 2025, East Prince RCMP received a 9-1-1 call about a two-vehicle collision on Route 2 in Wellington Centre. Both vehicles were severely damaged, and the drivers of the vehicles were the only occupants. Island EMS and Miscouche Fire Department were at the site of collision when RCMP arrived. A 43-year-old Summerside woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Island EMS. The other driver was extracted from his vehicle by Miscouche Fire Department and taken to Prince County Hospital with serious injuries.
At this time, it appears one of the vehicles swerved into oncoming traffic. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision; however, the investigation is ongoing. An RCMP collision analyst attended the scene, as did a Provincial Coroner.
Our thoughts are with the families of those involved.
