On July 24th, 2025, at approximately 11:10 a.m. PEI RCMP Traffic Services initiated a traffic stop with a grey sedan on Rte. 225 in North Wiltshire for a violation of a provincial traffic offence. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and evaded police. Shortly after, Queens District RCMP were on patrol in the community of Warren Grove and located the vehicle traveling toward the community of North River. A traffic stop was initiated with the vehicle and the driver fled from police, passing vehicles and driving erratically. At approximately 11:45 a.m. Prince District RCMP observed the same grey sedan on Rte. 1 in the community of Albany. The car drove into the driver side of a marked police vehicle that was stationary on the side of the road. A short time later, Prince District RCMP observed the sedan in the area of the Kerrytown Road, near Clinton and initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle. The driver fled from police yet again, and passed vehicles unsafely into oncoming traffic.
At approximately 12:20 p.m. Queens District RCMP and PEI RCMP Traffic Services observed the grey sedan on Rte. 224 in the community of New Glasgow. PEI RCMP officers deployed a tire deflation device (spike belt) which slowed the vehicle to approximately 65 km/hr. PEI RCMP members were able to position their vehicles to finally stop the grey sedan keeping public safety as the priority of their actions. In total, four police vehicles were damaged by the driver of the sedan.
Island EMS attended the scene to assess both occupants, however no injuries were sustained. None of the police were injured. The Alberton woman was released pending investigation, and the Bloomfield man was held in custody to appear before provincial court July 25th, 2025.
