Stratford RCMP have laid a total of twenty charges against two youths following an extensive investigation into the thefts and reckless operation of four vehicles stolen in Stratford on October 19, 2025. The charges include theft of motor vehicle, mischief over $5,000, and trespass at night in relation to the series of events.
During the overnight hours of October 18–19, 2025, four vehicles were stolen from residential driveways in Stratford. Three of the vehicles were returned to their owners or abandoned nearby and found heavily damaged. The fourth was located under a transport truck trailer in the parking lot of Stratford Home Hardware. All four stolen vehicles had been left unlocked with their keys inside. This incident serves as a remind to everyone about the importance of not leaving keys in a vehicle and locking your doors.
Evidence gathered by officers also showed that the stolen vehicles had been driven recklessly throughout the community, causing significant property damage and creating serious risk to public safety.
“These were serious offences that put the public and the youth involved at real risk. The level of damage left behind speaks for itself. This case was solved through the hard work and persistence of our investigators, combined with the support of community members. When people share what they see or hear, it makes a significant difference in our ability to keep our neighbourhoods safe” said Chief Superintendent Kevin Lewis, Commanding Officer for the PEI RCMP.
On December 1, 2025, Stratford RCMP laid twenty charges against two youths. These include theft of motor vehicle, mischief over $5,000, and trespass at night in relation to the series of events. They will appear in court in Charlottetown on December 22, 2025, to answer to these charges.
The RCMP would like to thank all the members of the community who assisted during the investigation. Anyone with additional information that may assist police is asked to contact the Stratford RCMP at 902-367-9300.
