Firearms Seized Following Search of West Prince Residence

On December 17, 2025, the West Prince RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Alberton, resulting in the seizure of multiple firearms and the arrest of one individual. ​During the search, officers located and seized a .22-caliber rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, a 9mm handgun, and a quantity of ammunition.

​The man has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court on January 14, 2026. The investigation remains ongoing.

​PEI RCMP remind Islanders there are specific regulations regarding the possession of firearms including all firearm owners in Canada are required to hold a valid Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL). Obtaining a licence requires passing the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and undergoing comprehensive background checks. ​Furthermore, a national freeze on the sale, purchase, and transfer of handguns remains in effect across Canada. While existing legal owners may maintain their current firearms, the acquisition of new handguns is strictly prohibited for most individuals.
