On the evening of March 6, 2026, Prince District RCMP established containment around a residence on Freetown Road in North Bedeque. A 43‑year‑old man, who was being sought in connection with offences in Summerside—including failing to attend an intermittent sentence and removing his ankle monitoring device—was believed to be inside the residence and possibly armed. As a precaution, Route 8 was closed while police secured the area.

Police safely arrested the 43‑year‑old man without incident. He was subsequently turned over to Summerside Police Services for their ongoing investigation. No weapon was located during the operation, and at no time was the general public at risk.

This incident was supported by Summerside Police Services, RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Crisis Negotiators, RCMP General Investigation Section and an Summerside police Drone Operator. We thank the public for their patience and cooperation as the situation was resolved.
