Saskatchewan RCMP charges two after robbery and assault on Moosomin First Nation

On May 20, 2025, at approximately 2 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an assault at a residence on Moosomin First Nation, SK.
Battlefords RCMP responded immediately. Officers determined individuals had entered the residence armed with a firearm, bear-sprayed the victim and robbed them. The individuals departed the residence in a truck. The victim was treated at the scene by EMS.
Officers conducted patrols, but did not immediately locate the suspects. Later that evening, officers with Battlefords RCMP and RCMP Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT) Battlefords Crime Reduction Team-Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF) located the suspect truck at a residence on Saulteaux First Nation. Police approached with lights and sirens activated on their vehicles; the occupants fled into the residence.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team attended to assist with this investigation.
An adult male and adult female exited the residence and were taken into custody. The female was later released without charges. A second adult female exited the residence approximately 4.5 hours later, shortly after 1 a.m. on May 21, 2025.
Officers located and seized a semi-automatic firearm and ammunition, which were observed in a vehicle at the residence.
As a result of investigation, 28-year-old Richard Wright of Battleford, SK is charged with:
- one count, robbery with firearm, Section 344, Criminal Code;
- one count, assault with weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization; Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.
23-year-old Jenna Haraburda of North Battleford, SK is charged with:
- one count, robbery,, Section 344, Criminal Code;
- one count, assault with weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, fail to comply with probation, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code.
