Pinehouse RCMP investigating arson that destroyed excavator

On June 8, 2025, Pinehouse RCMP received a report of an arson in the Northern Village of Pinehouse.
Investigation determined that sometime between the evening of June 7 and the morning of June 8, an unknown individual or individuals discharged a firearm at an excavator parked at the landfill off of Highway #914. The excavator was then set on fire.
The excavator was significantly damaged. The fire did not spread beyond the immediate area of the excavator.
Pinehouse RCMP continue to investigate. Anyone with information, or who saw suspicious activity near the landfill late on June 7 or early on June 8, is asked to call Pinehouse RCMP by dialling 310-RCMP.
