On September 26, 2023, White Butte RCMP began an investigation into suspected drug trafficking into the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre (RPCC).
At the time, a 36-year-old male inmate of the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Initial investigation determined the accused had an accomplice outside of the RPCC that was assisting with purchasing, packaging and transporting illicit substances to an unknown correctional officer at the facility. A 35-year-old woman was identified as being involved and was subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
After a lengthy and complex investigation and, as a result of numerous judicial authorizations being executed, White Butte RCMP identified the correctional officer responsible for trafficking illicit drugs into the RPCC.
On July 16, 2025, 44-year-old Justin Amyotte of Regina, SK, was arrested and charged with the following:
- One count, conspiracy to commit the indictable offence of trafficking a controlled substance, Section 465(1)(c) of the Criminal Code (CC);
- One count, breach of trust by a public officer, Section 122 of the Criminal Code (CC);
- One count, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
Amyotte will make his next appearance in Regina Provincial Court on August 7, 2025.
