On August 21, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a single vehicle rollover on Highway #4 at Cochin, SK. It was determined that an RCMP vehicle and one RCMP officer (an adult male) were involved. Initial investigation determined that an on-duty RCMP officer with Battlefords Detachment was responding to a call for service in an unmarked police vehicle with emergency equipment activated when the rollover occurred.
On scene, the officer was attended to by a member of the public as well as Meota and District Volunteer Fire Department, RM of North Battleford Volunteer Fire Department, EMS and Battlefords RCMP officers who responded immediately. The officer was transported by ambulance to Saskatoon for treatment of injuries described as serious, non-life-threatening in nature.
RCMP Collision Reconstruction attended the scene and continues to investigate. Highway #4 is now open.
“Our detachment and all the units and employees who live and work in Battlefords area are like family. We’ll continue to lean on each other in the days and weeks ahead and as the injured member navigates recovery,” said Inspector Ryan How, Battlefords Detachment Commander. “I want to recognize those who have extended gestures and words of kindness. These acts truly show the continued support we have from the communities we serve. Thank you.”
