Lloydminster RCMP CRT – Saskatchewan and Alberta RCMP teams arrest man wanted on warrants and seize firearms, drugs and stolen property

On August 8, 2025, the Lloydminster RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT), a specialized team part of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT), opened an investigation into an individual with multiple outstanding warrants suspected of trafficking drugs in Neilburg, SK.

On September 11, 2025, the Lloydminster RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT), with the assistance of the Lloydminster RCMP Saskatchewan Trafficking and Response Team (STRT), located and arrested the individual exiting a business on 13th Avenue in Wainwright, AB. The adult female accompanying him was also arrested.

The same day, Lloydminster RCMP CRT, with the assistance of Lloydminster RCMP STRT and North Battleford RCMP Police Dog Services, executed a search warrant on the vehicle parked by the individual and the woman accompanying him in the parking lot of the business in Wainwright, AB.

In the vehicle, police officers located and seized: one loaded 9mm carbine rifle, approximately two ounces of cocaine and additional items indicative of drug trafficking.

Later that day, Lloydminster RCMP CRT, with the assistance of the Lloydminster RCMP STRT, North Battleford RCMP Police Dog Services and Cut Knife RCMP, executed a search warrant related to this investigation at a residence in rural Neilburg, SK.

At the residence, police officers located and seized: one SKS carbine-style rifle, thousands of rounds of ammunition, evidence of drug trafficking as well as stolen property valued at over $100,000, including four all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), two side-by-side vehicles (SSVs), one snowmobile and one sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Lloydminster RCMP CRT have so far identified the owners of half of the stolen items. They are asking for the owners of the remaining stolen items to please contact 310-RCMP. The items are: 

  • one green Polaris Arctic Cat snowmobile,
  • one red and blue motocross-style ATV,
  • one black motocross-style ATV,
  • one green Honda full-size quad ATV.

As a result of police investigation, 32-year-old Brett Schnieder from the RM of Manitou Lake, SK, and 28-year-old Kendra Sylvestre, from the RM of Manitou Lake, SK, are both charged with:

  • once count, possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • two counts, unauthorized possession of a firearm, section 92(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • two counts, careless use of a firearm, section 86(1) of the Criminal Code; and
  • three counts, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, section 355(a) of the Criminal Code.

Brett Schnieder is additionally charged with:

  • two counts, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • two counts, possession of ammunition contrary to an order, section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • three counts, failure to comply with a condition of a release order, section 145{5)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Following their arrest, Brett Schnieder and Kendra Sylvestre were transported to the Wainwright RCMP Detachment by Lloydminster RCMP Police Dog Services and Wainwright RCMP to appear in court for outstanding warrants and additional charges in Alberta.

Brett Schnieder has been remanded into police custody in Alberta until his next appearance in Wainwright, AB on October 16. 2025. He will face Saskatchewan charges via CCTV during the Alberta court process.

Kendra Sylvestre is scheduled to appear in court in Lloydminster, AB on October 16, 2025, to face Alberta charges and in Lloydminster, SK on October 20, 2025, to face Saskatchewan charges.
