Melville RCMP: two charged after stolen vehicle flees from police

On October 2, 2025, Lumsden RCMP received a report of a stolen SUV. Investigation determined an unknown individual or individuals stole the vehicle from the driveway of a residence in Regina Beach.
Officers continued looking for the vehicle and following up on information received about its whereabouts.
On October 5 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Melville RCMP received a report that the SUV was near Melville. Officers located it on Highway #10, activated their emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle continued driving, evading numerous efforts to stop it.
Officers set up a tire deflation device in the Foam Lake area, which the vehicle ran over. The vehicle struck several police vehicles, before eventually coming to stop in a field near Elfros. No police officers reported injuries, but the police vehicles were damaged. The two occupants of the SUV were arrested.
As a result of continued investigation, 34-year-old Levi Bast-Kozar from Regina Beach is charged with:
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, flight from police officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
- one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code; and
- three counts, assault on police officer with weapon, Section 270.01(2), Criminal Code.
A 33-year-old female from Regina Beach is charged with one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.
Both were also arrested on charges related to a vehicle theft reported to White Butte RCMP on September 28.
Levi Bast-Kozar was also arrested on charges related to a vehicle theft reported to White Butte RCMP on September 25.
They are scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on October 6, 2025.
