Update: Punnichy investigating serious collision on Highway #15

As a result of continued investigation, Punnichy RCMP determined the truck was driving on the wrong lane of the highway and that the driver was using a cell phone at the time of the collision.

The driver, an adult male, has been issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.

Punnichy RCMP thank the public for their well-wishes and support for the injured police officer, who continues their recovery.

Background

2025-06-05

On June 4, 2025 at approximately 11:10 a.m., Punnichy RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway #15. The collision occurred on Muskowekwan First Nation near the rodeo grounds.

Officers responded along with local EMS and STARS. Investigation determined a marked RCMP vehicle and truck collided.

The police officer was transported to hospital by STARS for injuries described as serious, but non-life-threatening, in nature. There were no passengers in the police vehicle at the time of the incident.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

Highway #15 was temporarily closed but has since been reopened.

Punnichy RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
