Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigation Section lay charge of first-degree murder in relation to investigation

Around 4:00 p.m. November 6, Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of an injured adult male at a residence in Whitewood, SK. Broadview RCMP responded and located the injured male inside the residence. The adult male was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased. Their death is considered suspicious and the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Regina General Investigation Section and Major Crimes police officers took carriage of the investigation.
A male youth was arrested by police at the residence. During the arrest the male was injured and was taken to hospital as a precaution. He has since been released back into police custody.
As a result of investigation and consultation with Crown, a male youth is charged with one count, first degree murder, section 235(1) of the Criminal Code in relation to the death of the adult male. Both males are from Broadview Detachment area.
We cannot provide any more descriptives as there is risk the youth could be identified, which is prohibited under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
This investigation is continuing with the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Broadview RCMP Detachment and Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
