Three charged after Battlefords RCMP seize firearms and recover stolen property on Moosomin First Nation

Firearms and stolen property including two vehicles were recovered following an investigation on Moosomin First Nation, SK.

On the morning of December 10, 2025, Battlefords RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from Martinson Beach, SK. That evening, North Battleford Police Dog Services located the stolen vehicle on Moosomin First Nation. RCMP officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver collided with the police vehicle while fleeing the scene. None of the police officers inside reported physical injuries.

Officers observed the stolen vehicle pulling into nearby residence, where they arrested the driver and began a search for the occupants. As a result of investigation, a second person was arrested inside the residence.

On December 11, 2025, around 8:00 a.m., Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at the same residence on Moosomin First Nation. A search of the residence resulted in the following items being seized:

  • a revolver-style handgun;
  • a replica handgun;
  • firearm parts;
  • hundreds of rounds of ammunition;
  • small amounts of methamphetamine; and
  • drug trafficking paraphernalia.

RCMP officers located stolen tools, a laptop and portable radios believed to be from a break and enter on December 10, 2025, on Moosomin First Nation. They also located a second vehicle that was reported stolen on December 2, 2025. A third person was arrested from inside the residence during the search.

As a result of investigation, 50-year-old Leonard Wuttunee from Moosomin First Nation is charged with:

  • one count, operation of a conveyance while prohibited, Section 320.18(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
  • two counts, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, weapons/firearms possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code.

27-year old Cameron Katcheech from Moosomin First Nation and 18-year-old Kaydance Sinclair from North Battleford, SK are each charged with:

  • two counts, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.

Cameron Katcheech is also charged with:

  • two counts, weapons/firearms possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and
  • five counts, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.

Leonard Wuttunee, Cameron Katcheech and Kaydance Sinclair appeared in court on December 12, 2025.
