198 grams of cocaine and a loaded sawed-off firearm seized by Saskatchewan RCMP

Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team-Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF) – with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team – charged two males after locating and seizing cocaine and a loaded firearm at a North Battleford residence.

On December 19, 2025, Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford CRT-GTF and Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence on 102 Street in North Battleford as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

During a search of the residence, officers located and seized approximately 198 grams of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, a loaded sawed-off firearm, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a sum of cash. The substances will be sent to Health Canada for further testing. Seven people were arrested at the residence.

As a result of continued investigation, 27-year-old Darby Johnson from North Battleford, SK is charged with:

  • one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unsafe storage of firearms, Section 86(2), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000, Section 355(b), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

27-year-old Korben Oliynyk from North Battleford, SK is charged with:

  • one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unsafe storage of firearms, Section 86(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000, Section 355(b), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The five other people were later released without charge.

Darby Johnson and Korben Oliynyk appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on December 22, 2025.
