The Saskatchewan RCMP continues to ask the public to report information about the suspicious death of Candie Pritchard.
On February 5, 2024, Battlefords RCMP located Candie’s remains outside a residence on Red Pheasant Cree Nation. A search by RCMP Search and Rescue located additional evidence in a treed area along a roadway on Red Pheasant Cree Nation.
An autopsy and continued police investigation determined Candie’s death to be suspicious. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) took carriage of the investigation.
Candie, from Rabbit Lake, was 44 years old. Her mom, Lorna, keeps her memory alive.
“Two years ago, our lives were forever changed when my daughter was murdered. The silence since then has been unbearable. Someone knows what happened, and we are pleading for that person or persons to come forward,” says Lorna. “My daughter deserves justice and our family deserves peace. She was a caring, loving daughter, mom, sister and gramma. She never got the chance to meet or hold her two grandsons.”
The HIU continues to investigate Candie’s death and follow up on new information received. No charges have been laid. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
“We know there are people who have information about what happened to Candie, and we need them to tell police what they know,” says Inspector Ashley St. Germaine, senior investigative officer with Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Branch. “Even a small detail could make the difference in this investigation and help provide Candie’s family with answers.”
Anyone with information about Candie’s death is asked to report it to police. Tips can be submitted by calling Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP (7267) or local police of jurisdiction. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
This investigation is supported by officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Search and Rescue, and Battlefords Detachment, among others.
The Homicide Investigation Unit, formerly known as the Major Crimes Unit, is part of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch.
The Homicide Investigation Unit investigates homicides, suspicious deaths, missing persons where foul play is suspected or likely, explosions believed to be of a criminal nature involving death or injury, and other incidents, as directed.
