SPOTLIGHT
⯈ The Battlefords Crime Reduction Team-Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF) and the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team (CRT) are specialized units that work to remove illicit drugs, illegal weapons, and dangerous offenders from communities through a mix of highly visible policing and discreet investigative operations. Watch their patrols in North Battleford: GTF and CRT.
⯈ On Mar. 17, Battlefords RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious person with a firearm near a high school at the same time a lockdown alarm was activated within the school. Although further investigation determined the two events were unrelated, officers cleared the high school, safely escorted students out of the school and took the suspicious person into custody in under 45 minutes. It was an exceptional response by Battlefords RCMP officers in an unpredictable and extremely high‑risk situation.
⯈ On Mar. 26, Saskatchewan RCMP featured Constable Alexandra Boulanger on “See Yourself in Saskatchewan Battlefords” – she shares why North Battleford is a great place to live, an exciting community to serve, and a detachment where officers can excel in their career.
OUR COMMUNITY
⯈ On Mar. 11, Corporal Jennifer Brewer with First Nations Community Policing attended Red Pheasant Cree Nation to share coffee and connect with local leaders and community members, engaging in meaningful conversations about community priorities and opportunities.
⯈ On Mar. 18, Corporal Brewer and Constable Charlene Gariepy with Indigenous Recruiting attended the ID Blitz and Career Fair on Red Pheasant Cree Nation (pictured on the right). On Mar. 24, they also attended the same career fair on Saulteaux First Nation. They spent their days answering questions from community members, handing out stickers to children, and encouraging people to consider a future with the RCMP.
⯈ On Mar. 25 – Corporal Steve Bell participated in a question-and-answer session with students at North West College in North Battleford, many of whom are new to Canada. Conversations covered a broad range of topics including police recruitment, crime, traffic concerns, and the contrasts between policing practices and levels of public trust in Canada versus their home countries.
