Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit investigating suspicious death on Montreal Lake Cree Nation

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Montreal Lake and Waskesiu RCMP received a report of an injured male at a residence on Montreal Lake First Nation, SK. 

Officers responded immediately, located the male and provided first aid. EMS arrived and declared the man deceased at the scene.

The death was determined to be suspicious in nature. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit has taken carriage of the investigation. 

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Steven Beatty from Timber Bay. His family has been notified, and victim services have been made available to them.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit continue to investigate.
