Police respond to two fatal motor vehicle collisions on the Alaska Highway in the Yukon

Whitehorse RCMP, and other emergency service providers, responded to two fatal motor vehicle collisions that took place on Friday, June 13, and Sunday, June 15, 2025.

On June 13, 2025, at 8:24 am, Whitehorse RCMP received information about a motor vehicle collision approximately 3 kilometres south of the Lewes River bridge, near Alaska Highway kilometre marker 1390. The vehicle with two male occupants from Alaska, had been traveling northbound prior to the truck rolling over.  The passenger was treated for minor injuries while the driver passed away.

On June 15, 2025, at 2:11 pm, Whitehorse RCMP and other emergency service providers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on the Alaska Highway south of Whitehorse at approximately kilometre marker 1356. Two occupants, a male and a female, both residents of Arizona, were traveling northbound in their motorhome and went off the road. Both were taken to Whitehorse General Hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the male occupant passed away in-hospital.

Whitehorse RCMP continue the investigations into the collisions together with Yukon Coroner’s Service. Our condolences to all the families and friends impacted by these tragedies.

While both investigations are ongoing, It is not believed that alcohol or speed was a factor in either collision.
