The Commanding Officer, Chief Superintendent Lindsay Ellis would like to introduce two of the Yukon RCMP’s newest commanders, each who bring a wealth of experience and leadership to their new roles.
Superintendent (Supt) Steve Bergerman is the new Criminal Operations Officer for the Yukon RCMP.
Supt. Bergerman has over 29 years of service and started his career in Saskatchewan where he lived and worked in several northern isolated communities. He then transferred to Nunavut where he was a Detachment Commander, District Commander, and a Critical Incident Commander. In 2020 Supt. Bergerman transferred to Saskatchewan’s North District where he served as the Operations Officer and District Commander. Supt. Bergerman has a true passion for northern policing and has enjoyed working with Nunavummiut, and the Cree and Dene Nations. He is looking forward to working with the diverse communities the Yukon brings. His spouse is a Telecommunications Operator and is working in this vital public safety role here in the Yukon while their adult children reside in Saskatchewan.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve the Yukon and I am committed to working in genuine partnership with all communities to enhance public safety and build lasting trust.” - Superintendent Steve Bergerman
Inspector (Insp) Graham Gurski is the new Officer in Charge of District Operations and Support Services.
Insp. Gurski has 20 years of service with the RCMP working across Canada and around the world. In that time, he has held leadership roles in a variety of assignments including municipal, provincial, Indigenous, and isolated Northern policing as well as federal protective operations with postings in the Northwest Territories, British Columbia and Alberta. His recent experience includes serving as the Acting Operations Officer of Wood Buffalo Detachment and Detachment Commander of Hinton.
“My passion is our people, in building and sustaining collaborative relationships with our communities and for advancing reconciliation. I feel so fortunate in having the opportunity to return to the North and to join the hardworking employees of M Division as we continue to advance our mission to provide policing excellence to the Yukon as the Territorial Police Service.” – Inspector Graham Gurski
“I am pleased to welcome these outstanding leaders to our senior leadership team.
