Whitehorse RCMP arrest two males for multiple crimes

On September 21, 2025, Whitehorse Detachment officers were investigating several complaints of thefts from vehicles in different parking lots located throughout the city. Two males were located and arrested.

At 4:00 am police received a report that a person confronted two masked males stealing gas from the back of his truck and one of the males had a machete style knife.

Whitehorse officers arrived quickly and located the two males in an off-road vehicle. Officers pursued them at a low rate of speed, into a wooded area in the Riverdale subdivision. Officers were able to safely arrest both individuals.  Officers also located several items at the scene that were identified as items stolen earlier from vehicles in parking lots.

Tyrell Sidney, 45 years old and William Johnson, 61 years old, both from the Yukon, have been charged with numerous offences.

Mr. Sidney is charged with the following offences:

  • Two counts of fail to comply with a probation order;
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Operate motor vehicle while impaired;
  • Fail/ refuse to comply with demand to provide breath sample;
  • Flight from police;
  • Theft under $5,000,
  • Three counts of theft/misuse of credit card;
  • Robbery;
  • Possession of break in instrument;
  • Disguise with intent;
  • Possession of stolen property and
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Mr. Johnson was charged with the following offences:

  • Flight from police;
  • Theft under $5,000;
  • Three counts of theft/misuse of credit card;
  • Robbery;
  • Possession of break in instrument;
  • Disguise with intent;
  • Possession of stolen property and
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both individuals appeared in court and were remanded until September 22, 2025. Subsequently, Tyrell Sidney was remanded in custody for an October 8 court appearance and William Johnson for a court appearance on September 24.
