Police investigation at Mt. Sima Ski Hill

Whitehorse RCMP is investigating an assault with a weapon that occurred earlier this afternoon at Mt. Sima Ski Hill.  One individual is currently in custody. 

At approximately 3:03 p.m., Whitehorse RCMP received a report that a 19-year-old man, had been stabbed in the abdomen while on the mountain. 

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Police do not believe there is any risk to the public. 

Based on the information gathered so far, police believe this to be an isolated incident with no connection to the Arctic Winter Games or athletes. 

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that may assist investigators to contact Whitehorse RCMP at 867 667 5555.
