Your Alberta RCMP uses data and intelligence to deploy specialized resources across the province. Through Community Response Teams (CRT) and Crime Reduction Units (CRU), the Alberta RCMP can address the social determinants contributing to the root cause of crime, while targeting priority offenders that cause the most harm in communities.

Recent CRT and CRU notables:

Stony Plain, Alta.  – On April 10, 2025, the Alberta RCMP CRT, with assistance from the Sheriff Investigative Support Unit Surveillance Team and Parkland RCMP, concluded a drug trafficking investigation. A resident of Stony Plain was arrested. 445 grams of cocaine, $7,818 CDN, and GHB were seized.

Calgary – On April 16, 2025, the Central and Southern Alberta CRU teams, with assistance from the Emergency Response Team and Strathmore RCMP, executed a search warrant in Rockyford, Alta. On April 19, 2025, Alberta RCMP Detachments in Brooks, Redcliff, Drumheller, Strathmore, Three Hills, Bassano, and Taber-Vauxhall located two stolen vehicles and arrested a suspect. SAD CRU followed up on this investigation and on April 21, 2025, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, High River RCMP, and Okotoks RCMP, they executed a search warrant in Aldersyde.

Three stolen trailers, three stolen trucks, three stolen motor bikes, three stolen firearms, a stolen ATV, and 61 other firearms were recovered. Two of the stolen firearms from Aldersyde are linked to the stolen firearms recovered in the Rockyford search. Three additional individuals were charged.

“These specialized units are unique to the Alberta RCMP and are ready to deploy to your community at any time, addressing and preventing crime,” says S/Sgt. Luke Halvorson from the Alberta RCMP’s Community Safety and Wellbeing Branch. “These provincial resources are at work keeping Albertans safe across the province.”

Both CRT and CRU teams work towards the Alberta RCMP’s Data 2 Action initiative, a Crime Reduction Strategy that turns data and intelligence into actionable tasks focused on the four pillars of policing: targeted prevention, apprehension, suppression, and offender management.
