Hinton RCMP CRU conducts arrest in drug trafficking investigation

In January 2025, Hinton RCMP received information from the public regarding an individual trafficking drugs from an address in Hinton. Hinton RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) took charge of the investigation. As a result, on May 30, 2025, Hinton RCMP CRU executed a warrant at the address and arrested two individuals. 30 grams of fentanyl, as well as 8 grams of cocaine and smaller amounts of other drugs were seized during the search.
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old individual and a 32-year-old individual, both residents of Hinton, were charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. The 38-year-old individual was additionally charged with trafficking in a controlled substance. Both individuals were brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on June 18, 2025.
