Wood Buffalo RCMP investigates suspicious fire, information sought

On Aug. 22, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP and Regional Emergency Services responded to a report of a boat on fire at the Gregoire Lake Boat Launch at Gregoire Lake Provincial Park, off of Highway 811 south of Fort McMurray. The subsequent investigation has deemed the fire as suspicious.

Wood Buffalo RCMP are seeking assistance from the public and are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or has any dash camera footage of that area around the time of the fire.
