Maskcwacis and Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit lay charges in 2023 homicide

Montana First Nation, Alta. – On May 10, 2023, Maskwacis RCMP received a report of a deceased individual at a rural location on Montana First Nation. The deceased was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the cause of death was determined to be homicide. The deceased was identified as a 33-year-old, resident of Edmonton.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took carriage of the investigation.

Through investigation, it was determined that the deceased was in an altercation at an Edmonton residence and was then transported to and left at the rural location on Montana First Nation.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged a 29-year-old resident of Maskwacis, and a second individual, resident of Edmonton with Manslaughter.

The second suspect was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Nov. 25, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin

As this matter is before the court additional information is not available.
