Wood Buffalo RCMP respond to Robbery, suspects arrested

Fort McMurray, Alta – On Dec. 24, 2025 at approximately 5:53 pm, Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of a robbery with a firearm in the downtown area of Fort McMurray. The victim alleged two suspects approached him, pointed a firearm and demanded their phone. The victim complied and the two suspects fled on foot. A description of the suspects was provided to Police. Both suspects were immediately located and arrested by RCMP without further incident. A replica firearm was located within close proximity to the suspects at the time of the arrest. The victim was not physically injured in the robbery.

A 26-year-old resident of Fort McMurray, is facing charges:

  • Possess weapon contrary to order
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Four counts Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Assault with a weapon

The individual was held for a Judicial Interim Hearing and was remanded into custody. They are set to appear next in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Jan. 5, 2026.

A 35-year-old resident of Fort McMurray, is facing charges:

  • Robbery with a firearm

They were held for a Judicial Interim Hearing and released from police custody. They are set to appear next in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Jan. 21, 2026.
