Slave Lake RCMP arrest and charge prolific offender

Slave Lake, Alta. – On Jan. 14, 2026, shortly before 11 p.m., a Slave Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Unit officer observed a individual walking through a parking lot, near 12 Avenue and Main Street, who he recognized as a prolific offender on a release order, specifically with a curfew of 9 p.m. The police officer confirmed identity and arrested the individual without incident. Prior to placing the them in the police vehicle, a search was conducted by police, and an extendable baton was found in the front pocket on the individual. The individual was also prohibited from possessing or carrying a weapon.

A 28-year-old, of no fixed address, is facing the following charges:

  • carry concealed weapon
  • failure to comply with release order x 2

The individual was remanded in custody and is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice on Jan. 19, 2026, in High Prairie.

“The Slave Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Unit continues to focus on public safety and that is evident in apprehending this prolific offender,” said Staff Sergeant Casey Bruyns, Detachment Commander of Slave Lake RCMP. “This arrest is a direct result of excellent police work aimed at keeping our community safe.”
