Claresholm RCMP evacuates high school due to bomb threat - Update

Claresholm, Alta. – On Jan. 30, 2026, at 11 a.m., Claresholm RCMP responded to a report of a bomb threat at Willow Creek High School. The threat was written on a bathroom stall. The building was quickly evacuated and RCMP, with assistance from Sheriffs and Peace Officers, searched the entire building. The threat was deemed to be false. 

Claresholm RCMP is now investigating a public mischief. Public mischief is a criminal offence which includes misleading the police to initiate an investigation, which is what happened today. Incidents such as this causes panic among the innocent and a misuse of emergency resources, and if those responsible are located, they will be held responsible. 

The investigation continues.
