Wood Buffalo RCMP seeks public assistance in hit and run

Fort McMurray, Alta – On Jan. 29, 2026 at approximately  2:41a.m., Fort McMurray RCMP responded to a vehicle hit and run on Thickwood Boulevard at Cornwall Drive. A red Dodge Journey was driving east, in the west bound lane when they struck another vehicle head on. The driver of the Red Dodge Journey, exited the vehicle, inspected both vehicles and then fled the scene prior to police arrival. Although EMS attended the collision, there were no reported injuries.

The driver of the Red Dodge Journey is described as:

  • Male;
  • Caucasian;
  • Approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall;
  • Medium build;
  • Short brown hair;
  • Beard and moustache; and
  • Wearing a jean jacket, dark pants and work boots.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP is requesting assistance from the public in identifying the Red Dodge Journey involved. It’s believed the suspect vehicle will have extensive front-end damage due to the collision.
