Cold Lake RCMP CRU makes arrests in stolen vehicle investigation

Cold Lake, Alta. – On Jan. 27, 2026, the Cold Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) were conducting targeted investigations in relation to several recent vehicles stolen from the Cold Lake area. RCMP members located a stolen vehicle at a residence in the 4400 block of 50 ave. When members attempted to arrest the occupants of the vehicle it fled at a high rate of speed, causing damages to a police vehicle.
With the assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services and the Alberta RCMP Real Time Operations Center, members pursued the vehicle as it fled the city of Cold Lake into the MD of Bonnyville. The pursuit continued into Saskatchewan where members were assisted by Pierceland RCMP and Loon Lake RCMP and a successful tire deflation device disabled the vehicle. As a result, three occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested.
As a result of the investigation, the following three individuals have been arrested:
First individual a 39-year-old, with no fixed address, has been charged with:
- Flight from police;
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle;
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000; and
- Drive while unauthorized;
Second individual a 25-year-old resident of Frog Lake, Alta., has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. They were also arrested on multiple outstanding warrants from multiple RCMP jurisdictions with charges including:
- Aggravated assault;
- Forcible confinement;
- Assault with weapon (x2);
- Operation motor vehicle while prohibited (x2);
- Theft of motor vehicle; and
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle.
Third individual a 38-year-old resident of Cold Lake, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
All three were brought before a justice of the peace. The third individual was released from custody while the first and second were remanded. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on Feb. 11, 2026.
