Westlock, Alta. – Over the past several months, Westlock RCMP, in collaboration with the Town of Westlock, has been hosting monthly “Coffee with a cop” sessions. A recurring complaint regarded aggressive and dangerous driving in the Westlock area. Westlock RCMP heard the concerns and started conducting proactive patrols in order to help alleviate the issue and allow their community to feel safer while driving on their streets. On Jan. 13, 2026, one such patrol was taking place when an RCMP officer noted two vehicles aligning on Highway 18 and engaging in what appeared to be a form of street race. One vehicle fishtailed and ended the behavior but the other continued. RCMP pulled the vehicle over and issued tickets for Driving in a race without race permit and stunt driving.
“We appreciate members of the public coming to our events and voicing their concerns” said S/Sgt. Jeff Sehn, Detachment Commander of the Westlock RCMP. “We will continue to listen to our community and address their concerns in order to create a safer shared environment for all.
