High River RCMP responds to school threat

High River, Alta. - On Feb. 12, 2026, at 10:39 a.m., High River RCMP received a report from École Secondaire Highwood High of a threat they received at the school. An unknown person called and said that someone would be attending the school with firearms. 

RCMP arrived at the school within 2 minutes of receiving the call. The school was placed in a hold and secure and searched by RCMP and school staff. The hold and secure has since been lifted. RCMP will remain on site for the remainder of the day.   

High River RCMP remains committed to ensuring public safety of our community and will continue to respond promptly to any concerns that are brought forward.
