Wood Buffalo RCMP on scene of serious motor vehicle collision – Update #2

Fort McMurray, Alta. – On Feb. 19, 2026, around 3:50 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP was called to a collision on Highway 63 involving two semi trucks. Both trucks sustained major damage resulting in both drivers being in critical condition, to be transported by Medivac. One driver, a 46-year-old resident of Wetaskiwin, Alta., has since been declared deceased and the other remains in critical condition. Though the investigation is ongoing, preliminary information suggests that road conditions could have contributed to the collision. The highway has since reopened.

Alberta RCMP send their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
