Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate dangerous weapons complaint

Fort McMurray, AB – On February 18, 2026 at approximately 9:12 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP were dispatched to a road rage incident that resulted in a weapons complaint. Police were dispatched to the area of Abasand after the victim reported they were chased with a sword. The suspect departed prior to police arrival. The victim alleged the suspect had followed the victim from the Timberlea area of Fort McMurray. Once in Abasand, the suspect exited their vehicle and confronted the victim carrying a sword, yelling at the victim that they had cut the suspect off. The victim was able to get to safety, and the suspect left the area in a 2002 light brown Nissan Pathfinder. The victim did not report any injuries.
Video surveillance was obtained by RCMP.
The suspect is described as:
- Male
- Caucasian
- Thin build
- Approximately 5 foot, 10 inches
- Approximately 40 years old
