RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating suspicious death in Ponoka County

Ponoka County, Alta. - On Feb. 24, 2026, at approximately 11:25 a.m., Ponoka RCMP responded to a rural residence in Ponoka County for a report of a sudden death. Upon arrival, a 92-year-old was located deceased. The circumstances surrounding their death appear to be suspicious.
RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation. An autopsy will be performed on Feb. 26, 2026, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary.
