Immediate roadside prohibition

While patrolling Hot Springs Road, an officer observed a vehicle failing to maintain a consistent speed and lane position. Police queries revealed the vehicle was uninsured and that the registered owner was required to be served a driving prohibition notice. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was confirmed to be the registered owner. The driver displayed signs of impairment, and the officer requested roadside breath samples which the driver refused. As a result, the driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition, a violation ticket for operating an uninsured vehicle, and a violation ticket for failing to display an “L” sign. The vehicle was impounded and towed, and the driver's licence was seized.

Stolen truck later recovered in Chilliwack

A complainant reported that a family member's truck had been stolen from a residence on Emerald Avenue. Numerous tools were also inside the vehicle at the time of the theft. Several days later, the truck was located in Chilliwack. One man has been arrested in connection with the investigation. The stolen tools have not yet been recovered and the investigation remains ongoing.

Burning vehicle determined to be stolen

A concerned citizen reported hearing sounds similar to gunshots near Else Road. Officers attended the area and located a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Investigators determined that approximately one hour before the fire, the vehicle's owner had finished work in Rosedale and discovered the vehicle was missing. The circumstances surrounding the theft and fire remain under investigation.

Theft from residence and vehicles

Officers investigated several theft-related incidents this week, including:

• Power tools stolen from an unsecured property on Walker Road.
• Theft from an unlocked vehicle on McCaffrey Road. Various items were taken and later located in the neighbourhood.
• Electronics stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Chowat Road.
• Personal items stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Fooks Road.

Crime Prevention Reminder: Many thefts from vehicles are crimes of opportunity. Residents are encouraged to remove valuables, lock vehicle doors, and report suspicious activity to police as soon as possible.
