A motorcycle passenger is dead, the rider is in serious condition, and police need help from witnesses and dash-camera video to learn exactly what caused the fatal collision in Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island.
The crash occurred on September 13, 2025, at 7:31 p.m., when a Harley Davidson with custom skull-and-smoke paint collided with a white, early-model Chevrolet S-10 pickup on Island Highway West near Mistaken Road.
The motorcycle rider, a 44-year-old Cowichan Bay man, was taken to hospital with very serious injuries while his passenger, a 37-year-old Port Alberni woman, is dead. The driver of the pickup, a 54-year-old Qualicum Beach man, was unhurt.
“The minutes and hours leading up to this collision could provide important evidence. If you saw the motorcycle rider or pickup driver’s behaviour, please talk to police,” says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “We also encourage people against speculating about who or what caused this crash. Nothing has been ruled out.”
If you have dash-camera of the collision between the custom Harley and the pickup, or you witnessed any of the events that led up to this fatality, please call BC Highway Patrol – Parksville at 250-954-2953 and quote file (7001) 2025-1877.
