Dash-camera video and additional witnesses will be crucial to solving a three-vehicle collision that killed a man just north of Wonowon. BC Highway Patrol is investigating the collision as potentially criminal.
On January 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., police were called to Highway #97 North after a head-on collision involving a green Ford F350 pickup and a black Dodge Caravan. The force of the initial collision sent the Ford F350 and the Dodge Caravan into the side of a logging truck.
“This collision was severe. The driver of the black Dodge Caravan, a 27-year-old man from Grande Prairie, Alberta, did not survive,” says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “The driver of the F350 has been arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death. Police need witnesses and dash-camera video of the events before and after the crash to determine exactly what happened.”
Both the black Dodge Caravan and the green Ford F350 had Alberta licence plates. The arrested driver was a 25-year-old man from Swift Current, Saskatchewan and he has been taken to hospital for serious injuries. The driver of the logging truck was unhurt.
Anyone who witnessed the events leading up to the collision, or who has dash-camera or other video, is asked to call BC Highway Patrol – Fort St. John at 250-787-8140 and quote file (3403) 2026-733.
