Boston Bar RCMP responds to residential fire that destroys two homes

The Boston Bar RCMP is investigating a residential fire that destroyed two homes in Boston Bar during the early morning hours of September 22, 2026.

At approximately 1:51 a.m., the Boston Bar RCMP received a report of a structure fire at a residence on Old Boston Bar Road. By the time officers arrived, the fire had grown significantly and spread from the original residence to a neighbouring home. Occupants of both residences were safely evacuated, and police conducted additional evacuations of nearby homes as a precaution. 

At approximately 3:30 a.m., embers from the fire are believed to have ignited a separate fire involving a rail tie pile near Railway Avenue which was extinguished by the fire department.

Despite the efforts of emergency responders, both residences were destroyed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The homeowner of the original residence is cooperating with the investigation. 

At this time, after an assessment of the scene and pursuing other avenues of investigation, criminality is not believed to be a factor in the fire. The investigation remains ongoing in collaboration with the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
