On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Lower Mainland Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (LMDCVE) group conducted a planned operation on Lougheed Hwy at Kingsland Drive.

The team inspected 40 commercial vehicles, and of those 40 inspections, 21 vehicles were placed out of service.

Here are the complete stats from the day’s initiative:

  • 40 inspections
  • 21 Commercial vehicles placed out of service
  • 99 violations identified
  • 54 violation tickets issued

Of note, a dump truck was stopped because of illegible dangerous goods placards. The driver was later found to be impersonating his brother, who was sitting in the passenger seat, as he was prohibited from driving due to an earlier Burnaby RCMP impaired driving offence. The investigation is ongoing, and the applicable charges will be forwarded when appropriate.

“The number of trucks being placed out of service is still way too high and this particular driver now faces several potential charges, including impersonation and obstruction,” said Cst. Kevin Connolly with Burnaby RCMP’s Traffic Services. “We plan on continuing these types of initiatives all over the Lower Mainland, into the new year and beyond.”
